Charlottesville

The Inn at Court Square is just two blocks from the Historic Downtown Mall, one of the most beautiful and successful pedestrian malls in the nation. A wonderful mix of restored and renovated buildings that typified small “downtowns” throughout the country can now be enjoyed by visitors as they shop, dine, and people-watch along the brick-paved pedestrian area.

“In an area roughly six blocks by seven, you can find, among other things, eight book stores, ten antique dealers, twelve art galleries, and some forty places to eat.”

“It’s like a small-scale Barcelona, like the pedestrian promenade La Rambla,’ muses architect Frederick Oesch. Thriving and vibrant, the place they’re all talking about is the Downtown Mall in Charlottesville…”

Four miles from Monticello and Ash Lawn and one mile from the University of Virginia, the Inn provides a convenient home base for exploring the Piedmont’s historic sites and countryside: Civil War battlefields, vineyards, breweries, mountains, hiking trails. Skyline Drive, the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Montpelier Races and the Foxfield Races are also nearby. There are many orchards where visitors can pick their own peaches, apples, and strawberries.

Places to visit include: The Inn at Court Square and The Farm in downtown Charlottesville, The Old Manse in Charlottesville, Cliffside in Scottsville and Redlands in Albemarle County.”
